New Zealand beat Australia in Melbourne

Australia and New Zealand face each other in Melbourne for the first Bledisloe Cup/TriNations match of the year.

New Zealand will be looking for an eighth consecutive victory over the Wallabies and will be playing their first match of the year away from home.

New Zealand are unbeaten this season and both the Wallabies and the All Blacks are unbeaten in this year's TriNations.

Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.
 
Berrick Barnes kicks off and we are underway.
 
2.00: New Zealand and Australia start well. The Wallabies knock on though as they attack and Mils Muliaina has a run looking danerous.
 
3.00: Matt Giteau slices through the All Blacks and passes to James O'Connor who makes more ground but fails to pass and the All Blacks shut him down.
 
3.00: Penalty to the Wallabies. Giteau will kick for posts. He nails it and the Wallabies lead.
 
5.00: Penalty almost on the half way line to the All Blacks. Carter has a look and decides to kick for posts.
 
6.00: Carter takes the shot and slices it perfectly between the posts levelling the scores.
 
7.00: Almost from the restart Drew Mitchell snipes and charges down Carter's clearance kick and then darts down the wing and beats Carter and Joe Rokocoko and scores the first TRY !!.
 
8.00: Matt Giteau's conversion hits the post and bounces out.
 
WOW ! Berrick Barnes kicks to clear, Carter charges down and regathers and scores the second TRY !!
 
10.00: Carter takes the conversion from in front of the posts and puts the All Blacks into the lead for the first time.
 
13.00: The All Blacks show some brilliant hands and Corey Jane kicks over the defence and Mils Muliaina regathers and scores !!
 
14.00: Dan Carter's conversion is a shocker ! He misses.
 
16.00: Penalty to the Wallabies but Giteau misses.
 
18.00: Almost straight away the Wallabies are awarded another penalty so Matt Giteau takes another shot and this one he nails.
 
20.00: The All Blacks start to move the ball through the phases and after 12 phases they get the ball into the Wallabies 25 but the Wallabies turn it over.
 
22.00: McCaw and Owen Franks are called to one side for a chat but the referee and then Owen Franks is sent to the bin for a shoulder charge. The Wallabies fail to find touch with their kick and then as they go forward they give away a penalty.
 
23.00: Dan Carter kicks for touch and sets up a line out. The All Blacks with the line out and start to move the ball wide.
 
24.00; Adam Ashley-Cooper goes in to tackle Joe Rokocoko who bounces off the tackle but gets brought down by Mitchell. Ashley-Cooper looks bad and gets some attention.
 
25.00: Oooh the Wallabies lose the ball forward, McCaw gathers the ball and runs for the line and scores !! The All Blacks with 14 men are on fire.
 
25.00;Dan Carter takes the penalty kick and nails it.
 
28.00: The Wallabies get the ball and try to hold on to it. They keep the ball moving and keep it close going through the phases. On the 6th phase they get a penalty - not releasing the tackler. But wait.  Drew Mitchell is called over and sent to the bin for a shoulder charge and the penalty is reversed.
 
31.00: Genia puts boot to ball and sets up a line out in the All Blacks 25 but the All Blacks win the line out, they run the ball but give away a penalty and then get marched back another 10m for throwing the ball away. Giteau kicks for posts and nails it. Franks comes back on.
 
33.00: Yet again the All Blacks win the ball from the restart and as they press forward they give away a penalty. Elsom talks too much and they get marched back another 10m. Elsom will have to be carefull they don't get on the wrong side of the referee. Carter adds the penalty.
 
34.00: McCaw and Elsom both get a talking to from the referee but the All Blacks are awarded a penalty and they kick for touch and set up a line out 10m out. They win the line out and start working through the phases. Corey Janes snipes in the corner and scores the BONUS POINT TRY !!!
 
37.00: Dan Carter takes the conversion kick and nails it from almost the touchline.
 
39.00: Free kick to the All Blacks after the Wallaby scrum goes down.
 
40..0: The hooter goes but there is time for a line out but the ball goes out. It is half time.
 
The half time score was Australia 14 New Zealand 32
 
The second half is underway.
 
42.00: The Wallabies start well but as they go forward they give the advantage to the All Blacks who find space with the boot behind the Wallabies - the ball goes out though.  
 
43.00: OUCH !! Both captains are called over and then Drew Mitchell is shown another yellow card which is a RED. He is off.
 
44.00: The All Blacks pile on the pressure just 6m out going through the phases. The Wallabies turn it over and kick for touch.
 
45.00: The All Blacks keep piling on the pressure and they open up the Wallabies and Mils Muliaina is able to walk over for his second try.
 
47.00: Dan Carter nails the conversion adding more pain for the Wallabies.
 
50.00: The Wallabies up the pressure and work the ball into the All Blacks 25.
 
52.00: The Wallabies drive forward with the pick and go. After 16 phases the ball changes hands and then the Wallabies get the ball back and the Wallabies drive again and score !! Or do they ? No try - held up.
 
54.00: The Wallabies keep up the pressure and finally they get a breakthough after camping in the All Blacks 25. Adam Ashley-Cooper hands off a tackle and scores !! TRY.
 
55.00: Matt Giteau adds the converison.
 
58.00: The All Blacks immediately respond by moving the ball through the numbers which allows Joe Rokocoko to reach for the line and scores !! TRY.
 
60.00: Dan Carter misses the conversion.
 
61.00: The touch judge comes in and reports a lifting tackle but they can't get a number so the All Blacks get away without penalty. There was however nothing in it.
 
62.00: The Wallabies drive again for the line and Genia comes close and thenloses the ball in the tackle.
 
65.00: The Wallabies just keep picking away at the All Blacks defence.
 
69.00: The After several phases Rocky Elsom reaches for the line and scores the Wallabies third TRY !! 
 
70.00: Matt Giteau adds the conversion.
 
75.00: The All Blacks haven't gone to sleep but they appear happy to let the Wallabies pick away at them. The Wallabies are looking for that bonus point try.
 
77.00: The Wallabies are tiring a little with the disappointment. The All Blacks are winding down the clock.
 
79.00: James O'Connor tries a chip kick but gets caught and the All Blacks counter attack. They get a huge overlap on the wing and Corey Flynn scores the All Blacks seventh TRY.
 
80.00: Dan Carter misses the conversion but its still a record score for the All Blacks against the Wallabies. Thats it folks.
